What is breast implant removal surgery?

It is a surgical procedure to remove breast implants from previously done breast augmentation or breast reconstruction surgery. During this surgery, the surgeon may also remove the capsule, which is the scar tissue formed around the implant. usually, the scar tissue that forms around the implant is soft and does not need removal, but in certain cases it may harden, causing pain and discomfort with obvious disfigurement. That’s why usually capsulectomy (removal of scar tissue) is done along with implants removal. From safety point of view in best patient’s health interest it is recommended to have them exchanged or removed at every 10–15-year time This decision of exchange or removal is basically dependent on the individual and the patient’s needs and desires.In some rare cases, the outside shell of the implant breaks down resulting silicone to leak and the scar tissue around the implant to harden. What is breast implant revision surgery?

The breast implant revision surgery is to replace old breast implants with a new implant. At times, the purpose is also to change or improve the appearance of the breasts while updating the implant material, that can include:

  • A simultaneous breast lift or reduction
  • Reshaping the breast implant pocket to reposition the implant on the chest
  • Either increasing or decreasing the size, shape or style of the breast implant

Disproportionately grown huge breasts resulting either on puberty or in pregnancy or in response to hormonal treatments, can cause both physical and emotional distress for patients with low self-esteem.
